In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has

Again, I want to say a big HUGE THANK YOU to my OTSPSecretSister for gifting me this book for one of my first gifts from her. (Still have no idea who she is, lol). This was a book I wanted to read as it continues the story of Cinder, Prince Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Iko, and Thorne.

The third book in the Lunar Chronicles is the retelling of Rapunzel. In book 3, Marissa Meyer introduces us to Cress, a girl that turns out to be a computer hacker that lives on a satellite by herself monitoring earth for Queen Levana, and her newest task is to hunt down Thorne and Cinder. This comes after Queen Levana attacks New Beijing at the end of Scarlet, because things with Prince Kai didn’t quite go the way Levana planned.

Cinder, Scarlet and the rest of the fugitives plan to rescue Cress from the satellite, after ending up in space hiding from Levana. But it does not go as planned and our hero’s get separated.  Cress ends up in the middle of nowhere with Thorne, who she’s had a crush on forever. It’s a cute story of how they deal with each other as they try and find civilization and a way to get back with the others.

One thing I liked in this book was that we got updates all the characters, and we even got some more Prince Kai and Cinder interaction. Iko even got a new body in this one, and I have to say that Iko is one of my favorite characters, she’s hilarious. While I did enjoy seeing all of the characters from the first two books, I’m glad they did not over shadow Cress’ story.

The ending was great, and again a lead in to the next book, Winter….the problem, Winter is not out yet and I need it…I need to see what happens next.
